Earthsongs S-48B The Closed Town (from Songs of Children) for SATB Choir

The entire cantata Songs of Children, for mixed voices, violin, viola, cello, and piano, is based on nine poems written by children while interned at Terezin Concentration Camp.  It was composed in memory of all children who perished in the Holocaust.  Each of the eleven sections of the cantata utilizes one of the eleven phrases of the Jewish folksong Ani Maamin (see also S-244 Ani Ma’amin by Caldwell and Ivory) to create a large overall symmetrical form.
